The Board of Supervisors are the executive and legislative branch of county government. The five members of the Board of Supervisors are elected by district and serve overlapping four-year terms.

- Brent Oleson, District 4 and 2016 Vice Chairperson
- John Harris, District 5
The Board of Supervisors oversees:
- Budget appropriations for all areas of county government
- Fiscal policy
- Health and social service needs for Linn County
- Land use planning
Committee & Liaison Assignments
To better serve the people of Linn County, the individual members of the Board of Supervisors serve as liaison to specific city councils within their districts, organizations, and Linn County departments. View a list of committee and liaison assignments.
Members of the Board of Supervisors also appoint citizens to various county boards, commissions, and committees.
On July 24, 2007, the voters of Linn County voted on a measure to change the form of government of the county from supervisors at-large to supervisors by district. Linn County is now divided into five supervisor districts effective January 1, 2009.
