The project was let on July 11, 2017 and the contract has been awarded to L.L. Pelling Co., Inc. of North Liberty, IA for a cost of $1,197,379.15. The contractor tentatively plans to start the week of August 28th and the project should take approximately 5-6 weeks to complete. Traffic will remain open with the use of flaggers and a pilot car. The contractor plans to complete the asphalt work today (19th). They expected to start placing rock shoulders tomorrow (20th) and paint the pavement markings once the shoulders are complete. Construction on Covington Road is expected to start tomorrow (30th). The contractor will start by doing prep work at the bridges and on Ellis Road. This work is expected to take a couple days. Paving is expected to start on Tuesday (5th) after the holiday weekend. Traffic will remain open, but traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. Traffic should expect delays. The contractor plans to start construction on Thursday August 31st. They will begin by doing prep work at the bridges and ends of the project. Asphalt paving is scheduled to begin on Tuesday September 5th. The project is expected to take 4-6 weeks. The road will remain open to traffic throughout construction.
