Minimum Wage

On March 30, 2017, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad signed House File 295 into law. The new law prohibits counties and cities from establishing certain regulations relating to employment matters, including raising the minimum wage. The law took effect immediately, which made the minimum wage increase previously authorized by the Linn County Board of Supervisors null and void. The current statewide minimum wage in Iowa is $7.25 an hour.
