The County Auditor is responsible for many County services and the management staff is ready to assist you.
Rebecca Shoop
Becky Shoop is the First Deputy Auditor and she is in charge of the office in the absence of the Auditor. Iowa law also requires the Auditor to serve as Secretary to the Board of Supervisors and Becky fills that position, attending all Board meetings, taking and publishing minutes, and keeping records of all business involving the Board of Supervisors. She has been with Linn County since 1975.
Sue Wold
Sue Wold is the Deputy Commissioner of Elections supervising the day-to-day operations of all elections held in the county, as well as hiring and training the poll workers for 86 precincts and programming/testing the voting equipment. She is also responsible for overseeing the voter registration records and absentee ballots. She has a staff of 3 full-time and 6-8 temporary employees, as well as, 2 temporary voting machine technicians. She has been with Linn County since 1979 and has served as Deputy Commissioner since 1986.
Tim Box
Tim Box is the Deputy Commissioner of Elections in charge of internal operations. He began with Linn County as a GIS Specialist in 1999 before moving to the Elections Department in 2004. Tim is an Air Force veteran and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology Management.
Gordon Thompson
Gordon Thompson is the Deputy Auditor who oversees the accounting functions of the office including accounts payable and payroll. Gordon also supervises the calculation of property taxes. He has a degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and has been with the Linn County Auditor's office since 1979.
John Adams
John Adams oversees the property valuation reports, regular and incremental tax districts, and property tax levy preparation including review of local government budgets certified to the Auditor’s Office. John also supervises the compilation of property tax levy rates for each tax district. He started with the Linn County Auditor's office in 2006 and previously served as Tama County Auditor for 21 years. John is a graduate of Iowa State University.
Jason Siebrecht
Jason Siebrecht has been in the Auditor's Office since 1998, serving as Linn County's Geographic Information Systems Administrator. Jason received his BS in Geography from Northwest Missouri State University and has worked in the GIS field with design and coordination since 1993. He supervises the real estate and mapping divisions of the Auditor's Office.
Garth Fagerbakke (on loan to the Board of Supervisors)
Garth Fagerbakke is the Construction Services Manager for Linn County. Garth manages various construction and reconstruction projects. He earned his BA in Business Administration from Mount Mercy College and earned two Associate degrees from North Dakota State College of Science. He has been with Linn County since 1999.
