The General Homemaker Program can help you when health problems limit you in doing your day-to-day activities.
The General program's Direct Care Workers (DCWs) provide in-home, non-medical help to elderly and/or disabled people. Services are provided by DCW's who are professionally trained and supervised by either a nurse or a social worker in accordance with national standards and approved by the Iowa Department of Public Health.
General Direct Care Workers may assist with:
- Meal planning and preparation
- Grocery shopping and essential errands
- Light Housekeeping
- Bathing and personal care
Service delivery is prioritized according to need. Fee for service is assessed on a sliding scale according to household income and resources.
