Interior view | in 1976 we celebrated the grand opening of Red Cedar Lodge in Squaw Creek Park, just east of Marion, IA. At the time, it was the largest indoor lodge facility available in the Linn County Park system - superceded in 2004 with the opening of our Prairie Oak Lodge - just east of Red Cedar in the same park. Similar to our Woodpecker Lodge in Pinicon Ridge Park - it is extremely popular in the winter months due to the adjacent lighted sledding hill! Squaw Creek Park has become enveloped by the City of Marion, and with easy access of Highway 100 (Marion by-pass) - it is hugely popular for all outdoor enthusiasts! The 52-site campground is one of the most popular in the region, and will welcome a brand-new state-of-art shower facility when the campground opens in Spring 2009!
The "sun room" portion of this lodge provides a splendid year-round view of the Squaw Creek valley, and with a centrally-located two-sided fireplace - unique & special seating arrangements are quite common. Sheltered (indoor) capacity is considered to be 100 people (banquet style), with a fair-weather (utilizing adjacent patio) capacity of 450 people.
