 Administrative Services has been temporarily relocated to the third floor of the Palmer Building at 123 5th St. SE in downtown Cedar Rapids.
The Administrative Services Department serves as a support service for other Linn County departments in the areas of:

Administrative Services personnel also provides clerical support and receptionist services for the Board of Supervisors. The Director of Administrative Services is also the assistant to the Board of Supervisors attending all Board of Supervisors meetings, and is responsible for:

 The Linn County Attorney, Harold L. Denton, is a constitutionally elected official. The County Attorney is charged with the prosecution of criminal violations as defined by the Code of Iowa. Due to flood damage at the Linn County Administrative Office Building at 930 1st St. SW, the Board of Supervisors has temporarily relocated to the lower level of Linn County West at Westdale Mall in southwest Cedar Rapids.
Linn County Finance and Budget, Human Resources and Risk Management are also located on the lower level of Linn County West.

 Linn County Child Development Center is a full-day early childhood program based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for children from 3 to 5 years of age. Finance And Budget

The Finance and Budget Department oversees the Linn County budgeting process, audit, and financial reporting. Finance and Budget also provides ongoing management services for the County. MISSION: To provide temporary assistance to low income Linn County residents who are eligible for, or awaiting approval from Federal or State assistance programs according to Linn County Ordinance No. 2006 - 12 - 187.

Historic Preservation
 The Linn County Historic Preservation Commission is comprised of nine Linn County residents who work to identify, preserve, and protect historic structures. The Commission administers and monitors the Linn County Historic Preservation Grant Program. Members are volunteers appointed by the Board of Supervisors for a 3-year term. They possess an interest or expertise in architecture, architectural history, historic preservation, planning, building rehabilitation, conservation in general, or real estate. For monthly meeting purposes, members should be present in the community for most of the year.
Linn County is a Certified Local Government (CLG) for Historic Preservation in the State of Iowa. Consequently, the Linn County Historic Preservation Commissioner’s responsibilities are outlined in the State Historical Society of Iowa January 2007 publication, Iowa’s Certified Local Government Program: How to Apply for and Maintain CLG Status. Information Technology (IT)

The Information Technology (IT) department is responsible for the security, accessibility and support of Linn County’s computer systems and networks. LIFTS
 LIFTS provides safe door-to-door transportation for the elderly and disabled citizens in the metro area of Cedar Rapids, Marion, and Hiawatha. LIFTS also provides transportation to all Linn County residents outside the metro area. BACK TO TOP

Linn County Senior Assistance Program
 The Linn County Senior Assistance Program has temporarily relocated to Westdale Mall in southwest Cedar Rapids.
Seniors (and their families) who need help don't always know where to turn. Heritage Agency's Regional Senior Assitance Program is a system of professionals who work together to coordinate services that will help an elderly person to continue living on their own as long as possible. BACK TO TOP

MHDD-Mental Health And Developmental Disability Services
 Linn County Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Services has temporarily relocated to Westdale Mall in southwest Cedar Rapids.
Linn County Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities (MHDD) Services is the county agency responsible for managing the financing of services for people with mental retardation, mental illness, or developmental disabilities. This is done through the Central Point of Coordination office. The agency also provides direct services for people with disabilities through the following programs:

- Supervised Apartment Living
- In-Home Services
- Client Financial Services (Payee)

Recorder
 Due to the 2008 flooding, the Linn County Recorder's Office is now located in the lower level of the temporary Linn County West offices at 2500 Edgewood Road SW in Cedar Rapids.
The Linn County Recorder's office handles real estate records, birth, death and marriage records, as well as boat, snowmobile and all terrain vehicle registrations and titles. In addition, the office sells hunting, fishing and trapping licenses, including deer and turkey tags. BACK TO TOP

Risk Management
 Risk Management has temporarily relocated to the lower level of Linn County West at Westdale Mall in southwest Cedar Rapids.
The Risk Management Department assists Linn County agencies in identifying, controlling, and minimizing loss exposures. The department also handles accident and liability claims involving Linn County owned property, striving to process citizen claims in a prompt, efficient and equitable manner. MISSION: To protect the lives and property of the citizens of this county by providing the best, most professional law enforcement attainable.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office is the second largest sheriff's office in Iowa. Our main responsibilities include law enforcement, civil processing, and to maintain a correctional facility. The Correctional Center had an average daily population of 389.5 prisoners in fiscal year 2005/2006. Over 14,000 prisoners are booked into the facility each year.
The Communications Center dispatches additional police agencies, fire departments, and ambulance services. Over 59,063 calls for service were dispatched in fiscal year 2005/2006.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office also provides a paramedic-level Rescue unit that assists with car accidents, fires, and medical calls to the residents of Linn County. BACK TO TOP

Soil Conservation
 MISSION: The Linn County Soil Conservation Department's mission is to assist landowners, operators, and other entities of Linn County with soil and water conservation planning and implementation of conserving practices. The objectives are to reduce soil erosion, improve water quality and increase public awareness of natural resource concerns. BACK TO TOP

Treasurer
 Due to the 2008 flooding, the Linn County Treasurer's Office is now located in the lower level of the temporary Linn County West offices at 2500 Edgewood Road SW in Cedar Rapids. Property taxes and Motor Vehicle renewals can be paid online at www.IowaTaxAndTags.gov.
The Linn County Treasurer provides the following services:
- collects property tax for all real estate, mobile homes, utilities and special assessments for all tax levying and tax certifying entities of the county
- administers the Iowa Property Tax Credit Program
- conducts the annual tax sale for the collection of delinquent taxes
- processes vehicle transactions including title issuance, registration renewals, personalized and other special license plates, junking certificates
- notes and releases security interest as an agent of the State of Iowa
- collects road use tax (now known as Fee for New Registration)
- processes credit and refunds of fees
- financial administration, banking services, cash management and investments for the County
- receives all money payable to the County and acts as the central depository for all county offices and departments

Veteran Affairs
 Due to the 2008 flooding, the Linn County Veteran Affairs Office is now located in the temporary Linn County West offices at 2500 Edgewood Rd. SW in Cedar Rapids.
Linn County's VA-certified staff helps eligible veterans apply for compensation and pension programs to assist veterans and their dependents, including the following: -Compensation for Service-Connected Disability/Death -Non-Service-Connected Disability Pension -Death Pension for Surviving Spouse and Dependent Children -Aid and Attendance for Nursing Home and Housebound Veterans -Appeals of Unfavorable VA Rulings -Eligibility Verification Reports (EVR) -Application for Iowa Veterans Home
The staff also assists with: -Obtaining military records and awards. -Distributing grave markers and flag holders for Linn County. -Networking with Veteran's Administration Hospitals. -Networking with other VA facilities and social service agencies. -Conducts Mind Body Medicine Support Groups for PTSD.
The veteran must have been discharged under honorable conditions and have served 90 days or more of Federal active duty service.

Youth Services
 Youth Services provides a variety of services to youth and families in Linn County. The primary sources of funding are Linn County tax dollars and money provided through purchase of service agreements with the Iowa Department of Human Services.
