Fifth Annual Sleep Out For Homeless
Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Green Square Park Saturday November 13, 2010
As part of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week the Linn County Veteran Affairs Office and Community Circle of Care invite the public to participate in the Fifth Annual Linn County Sleep Out for the Homeless on Saturday, November 13th at Greene Square Park in downtown Cedar Rapids. We'll spend a night outside (from 5 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday) to discuss, to think and to learn about homelessness.
The Sleep Out will take place regardless of weather conditions. You're invited to join participants in sleeping in cardboard boxes in the park as well as discussing and sharing information on homelessness across the street at First Presbyterian Church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
Those who are planning to sleep out will solicit pledges of donation from family, friends and co-workers. If you can't sleep out, sponsor someone who can, and join us from 6:00 to 8:00 at First Presbyterian Church for educational activities and the kickoff of Community Circle of Care's blanket blitz for the homeless.
In 2009, we raised over $11,000 for local homeless and emergency shelters. This year, with your help, we'll raise more! Checks to Community Circle of Care are tax deductible
