QUESTION
Does General Assistance help with transportation?

ANSWER
No, unless you're deemed eligible for rent or utility assistance.  Then you're eligible for a bus pass or bus tickets.  this service is dependent upon the General assistance budget.   You may want to contact the United Way 2-1-1 for the number to see where you could get assistance with gas or bus tickets.  Just dial 2-1-1 or toll-free 1-866-469-2211.  From a cell phone or pay phone, please dial 319-739-4211.

For transportation to the University Iowa Hospitals and Clinics call (319) 356-2346.  You may also call the Salvation Army at (319) 364-9131.  You must provide a current drivers license and insurance.
