Displaced Voter Information
News
Department: Auditor's Office - Auditor Joel D. Miller
Posted:  Monday, June 30, 2008

Displaced citizens are still eligible to register and vote. The information below applies equally to those registering for the first time and to previously registered voters.

Until you are settled – either at a new address or back at your previous address – you have a choice: Your registration address can be that of your evacuated home or you can change it to that of your temporary residence.

Your polling place assignment is based on the residential address that appears in your voter registration record. If you make a change to that address – either temporary or permanent – your polling place may also change. Your polling place assignment appears on your Voter ID card.

If you will be displaced for a long period of time, but plan on returning to your original residence, please provide us with a mailing address so that you will receive any notices that our office may send.

New registrations and changes must be submitted in writing. To register to vote, change your residential address or add a mailing address, please submit a voter registration form to the following address:

Linn County Elections
PO Box 1328
Cedar Rapids, IA 52406-1328

You can obtain an Iowa Voter Registration form by the following methods:
