H1N1 Poster Contest
News
Department: Public Health
Posted:  Monday, September 21, 2009

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have identified school-aged children as one of the targeted populations for a recurrence of the 2009 H1N1 Influenza A virus this fall. Linn County Public Health is fully engaged with its local and state preparedness partners in an effort to limit the spread of the virus. One way to mitigate the spread of H1N1 and seasonal flu is by practicing good personal hygiene.

In an effort to encourage school aged children to consider the opportunities they have to stop the spread of germs, Linn County Public Health is conducting a poster contest for elementary and middle school aged children.

The Be A Germ Stopper poster contest involves the promotion of positive hand and cough hygiene. The participants will be divided into four groups; grades 1-2; grades 3-4; grades 5-6; and grades 7-8.

Contest rules and application information can be obtained at the link below.

Our youth have an important role in stopping the spread of germs and viruses. Please share this information with appropriate personnel in your school district. Questions about the contest can be directed to Linn County Public Health at 319.892.6023 or julie.stephens@linncounty.org.

Entries must be postmarked by Tuesday, November 10th, 2009.
