Hundreds of citizens receive the H1N1 intranasal flu mist vaccine

Cedar Rapids, IA —Linn County Public Health administered 695 doses of the H1N1 intranasal flu mist at Hawkeye Downs today. Volunteers from Kirkwood Community College, Community Health Free Clinic, Mercy Medical Center and St. Luke’s Hospital helped make the clinic run smoothly. Quaker Oats and ADM provided support as well.

“We are pleased to have delivered nearly 700 doses of H1N1 flu mist into the community” says Curtis Dickson, Director Linn County Public Health. “This clinic would not have been possible without our community partners that helped in administering the vaccine” Dickson also states that additional public H1N1 vaccination clinics will be held in the future when large quantities of vaccine arrives. In the meantime, we will continue to dispense limited quantities of H1N1 vaccine to local health care providers.
