Due to the number of positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across the country and locally, Linn County has closed most buildings to the public to help reduce community spread of the virus and to help ensure continuity of County services.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard team was reestablished in 2010 and currently consists of 16 members, all of whom are sworn deputies from the Sheriff's Office. Each member appointed to the team has demonstrated a high level of pride and respect for themselves, the office, and the law enforcement profession.
The Honor Guard participates in many different types of local events, such as sporting events and parades. In these events, the team will present and post the colors (Nation and State flags) to show respect to our nation's values and beliefs. The Sheriff's Office Honor Guard also travels across the State of Iowa, as well as, the surrounding states to attend and participate in the funerals of fallen law enforcement officers.
