Of the 28 areas manged by Linn County Conservation, 94% are categorized as undeveloped and natural. Linn County Conservation strives to protect natural resources and habitat throughout Linn County. Unlike a park or a trail, a "natural area" has physical and cultural characteristics through natural growth and are often maintained in their natural condition with few amenities. A "Preserve" may contain a rare plant, animal, or natural feature that may require special protections. Development is kept at a minimum to keep the area in its intended state. Linn County Conservation also has designated "historic" features often maintained for educational and historic purposes.
