Due to the number of positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across the country and locally, Linn County has closed most buildings to the public to help reduce community spread of the virus and to help ensure continuity of County services.
Of the 28 areas managed by Linn County Conservation, 94% are categorized as undeveloped and natural. Linn County Conservation strives to protect natural resources and habitat throughout Linn County. Unlike a park or a trail, a "natural area" has physical and cultural characteristics through natural growth and are often maintained in their natural condition with few amenities. A "Preserve" may contain a rare plant, animal, or natural feature that may require special protections. Development is kept at a minimum to keep the area in its intended state. Linn County Conservation also has designated "historic" features often maintained for educational and historic purposes.
