The contractor is now placing the first lift of the rock shoulders in the rural section. This work should be completed today. They still need to place the final layer of asphalt and a final layer of rock shoulders before the rural section is complete. They will move into the city limits once the underpass removal near the railroad tracks is complete.

The contractor is not paving today due to the rain. They finished the paved shoulders yesterday and will start paving the final two lifts next week. They have another 3" of asphalt to place and it will be done in two lifts. Once paving is complete in the rural section they will move into city limits to start paving there.

Also, the City of Mount Vernon has a seperate project in progress right now to removal an old wagon pass immediately west of the railroad tracks. That contractor plans to cut into the road next week. This will temporarily close Mount vernon Road for approximately 1-2 weeks.

All road construction is expected to be completed by late July.

Please contact me with any questions. Thank you for you cooperation.
