Linn County Public Health Releases Multi-Lingual COVID-19 Toolkit

Linn County Public Health

A multi-lingual toolkit, recently released to community partners and available for viewing at LinnCounty.org/MultilingualResources, is the first in a series of several toolkits created to distribute in response to COVID-19.

A multi-lingual toolkit has been compiled to inform those in our community who do not primarily speak English. Videos covering general information on COVID-19, isolation guidance for Iowans, and self-isolation have been translated into Arabic, French, Kinyarwanda, Nepali, Spanish, and Swahili. Additionally, several COVID-19 factsheets are available for download in Arabic, Burmese, English, French, Kinyarwanda, Nepali, Spanish, and Swahili within this resource. The multi-lingual toolkit also includes recommended websites in dozens of languages. Finally, those seeking assistance with food and essential items, appointments and interpretation with medical providers, applying for unemployment, WIC, LIHEAP, safety and other related issues, are directed to call EMBARC for assistance in Chin, French, Karenni, Karen, Kirundi, Lingala, Spanish, or Swahili.

Informing, educating, and empowering all community members about health issues is an essential function of public health. Providing accurate and timely information related to COVID-19 is of significant importance during this public health crisis. Linn County Public Health and community partners recognize the importance of sharing this information to every member of our community.
