Linn County is celebrating May 6-12, 2020 as National Nurses Week. This week, celebrated annually, honors the contributions that nurses and the nursing profession make to the community and to our daily lives.
The COVID-19 pandemic has only further highlighted the important work done by nursing professionals. The Linn County Board of Supervisors has recognized National Nurses Week and honored Linn County’s nursing professionals by releasing an official proclamation (PDF).
Nurses work in our hospitals, our schools, in long-term care facilities, and in some of our larger corporations. They work in our correctional facilities, private practice offices, community health centers, and public health departments.
While it takes all healthcare workers—from the people who clean the rooms to those who perform intricate surgeries—to make our health care system work, it is especially fitting during the COVID-19 crisis to join with the American Nurses Association to recognize these hard-working, steadfast healthcare heroes.
There are nearly 4,000 registered nurses and licensed practical nurses in Linn County. Our special thanks to all of them and all public health professionals for their hard and brave work during this pandemic.
