Linn County Public Health Releases Annual Report

Annual Report Release

Linn County, IA – Linn County Board of Health Chair Dr. Tarbox, along with fellow board members, released the Linn County Public Health (LCPH) Fiscal Year 2020 Annual Report today. 

“In addition to summarizing the countless hours LCPH staff spent responding to the COVID-19 pandemic that began in the middle of the last fiscal year, the annual report also highlights our continued work to improve the lives of Linn County residents through notable innovation and collaboration,” said Pramod Dwivedi, director of Linn County Public Health.  

 Some highlights from the Fiscal Year 2020 Annual Report include:

  • The November 22, 2019 ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion and opening of Linn County’s new Dr. Percy and Lileah Harris Building where LCPH moved to earlier that month  
  • 264 days our air quality was in the Air Quality Index (AQI) Good Category
  • 2,083 communicable disease investigations and 3,384 immunizations administered  
  • COVID-19 case counts and public information metrics  
  • Collaboration:
    • Partnered with University of Iowa’s Center for Health Effects of Environmental Contamination to study a group of harmful, synthetic chemicals in private well water 
    • Linn County Make It OK group organized and launched campaign to reduce mental health stigma
    • Chosen by IDPH as a pilot site for the “Harnessing the Power of Iowa’s Libraries” project enhanced collaboration with library staff 
    • Chosen as a site by CDC/NACCHO as one of four national pilot sites to study the local adoption of strategies to increase physical activity
  • Innovation
    • Began working with emerging technology to provide real-time measurement of particulate pollution in neighborhoods 
    • Began utilizing new HIPAA compliant technology to address medication observation among TB clients that reduced staff time away from the office
