[ARCHIVED] Linn County Conservation announces reopening of Wickiup Hill Learning Center

LINN COUNTY- IA  March 1, 2021 Linn County Conservation’s Wickiup Hill Learning Center is reopening on a limited basis. To reduce community spread of COVID-19, additional protocols will be implemented at the nature center to help provide a healthy and safe environment for visitors and staff. 

Restrictions and guidelines include:

  • Building Hours:   8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • All visitors will be required to wear masks/face coverings while indoors, and maintain a physical distance of 6 feet between themselves and others not in their household. 
  • Sanitation stations will be available for the public upon entry to the building.                                                 
  • The Wickiup Hill Learning Center is operating at a reduced capacity. Groups of 10 or more interested in visiting the building are encouraged to contact Wickiup Staff in advance at 319-892-6485.
  • Guests should stay home if they experience symptoms of a cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, or other symptoms associated with COVID-19.

In order to continue offering a positive experience at the Wickiup Hill Learning Center, these requirements and guidelines are subject to change as updated information becomes available about the coronavirus and its effects on the community.

Public Programs: Public programs and events for all ages, many of which are provided outdoors, continue to be offered. Space is limited due to the current pandemic, and extra precautions are taking place for these outdoor and indoor programs.  To register or to find out more, click on Events at LinnCountyParks.com 

Outside areas of Wickiup Hill continue to be open from sunrise to sunset, including the Wickiup Wandering Woods nature playscape. All visitors should continue to practice social distancing, avoid large groups, and wash hands frequently. Use hand sanitizer when hand-washing is unavailable.
