Just as organizations and businesses start to re-open and create a new “normal,” the work on the Linn County Mental Health Access Center adjusts to potential changes and slight delays in opening its doors to the public. Although the actual renovation project has moved along without many issues, production of some vital pieces to be delivered and installed were delayed roughly one month due to a shutdown of one company. Linn County hopes this is the only short delay and the Mental Health Access Center will open in October 2020.
The Mental Health Access Center Executive Team, comprised of four service providers and other key stakeholders, continues its work creating effective policies and procedures, collaborating with other community organizations to ensure strong partnerships for referrals, and continuing to bring mental health and substance use disorder information to those in need.
The Mental Health Access Center will be located in the former Linn County Public Health building at 501 13th St. NW, Cedar Rapids, next to the Abbe Center for Community Health. Linn County has contracted with Foundation 2, Abbe Center, Penn Center, and the Area Substance Abuse Council to provide services within the Center. The Access Center will provide services 24 hours a day, seven days a week once the renovation is complete.
